J P Forrest & Son are sub contract engineers specialising in medium-heavy fabricated and machined components up to 20 tonnes, manufactured to customer-specific requirements in small batches or one-offs, such as gearbox housings, main frames and sub-assemblies for industries including Rail, Oil and Gas, Steel making, Renewable Energy, Mining and Quarrying.
Responsibilities:
- Program, set and operate our CNC lathe, turning a variety of components up to 560 diameter and up to 1350 long, such as shafts, sleeves, housings, cover plates and couplings to very close tolerances, usually one-offs or small batch quantities.
- Operate manual centre lathes when required, provided you have the necessary skills and experience.
- Work under your own initiative, formulating the best method to produce any given job correctly and within budget.
Requirements / Qualifications:
- 5+ years of relevant experience (required).
- Experience programming and operating Fanuc controls.
- Ability to commute to or relocate to Worksop, S81 7DJ (required).
- English to a high standard (required).
- United Kingdom work authorisation (required).
Work Pattern & Benefits:
- Normal working hours are 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday. 7.30am - 4.30pm: Monday to Thursday; 7.30am - 12.30pm: Friday.
- However, we operate a flexible working system with attractive overtime rates.
