A Senior Designer is primarily responsible for designing product ranges and overseeing our Girls and Baby department. They must inspire, mentor and manage a team with the support of the Design Manager and they must be exceptional on brand creative output and ideation, whilst ensuring cohesive ranges across categories that create balanced and unique product for the customer. A brilliant sense of colour, design and print is needed as well as ensuring that Boden brand values are reflected in designs.
Location: 4 days per week based at our North Acton Office.
What You Will Do
- Follow the seasonal strategy to design unique and innovative ranges for our customer.
- Lead the team as well as upward management.
- Pay attention to detail and accuracy from sketch stage to production.
- Gain inspiration and innovative design ideas from a variety of sources to ensure unique Boden product.
- Demonstrate strong delegation skills, time management, and prioritization of workload.
- Regularly present ranges to senior teams and contribute to range building.
- Ability to edit and present concise ideas, along with self-evaluation and problem-solving skills.
- Maintain critical path dates and ensure deadlines are met within the team.
- Produce and check detailed technical CAD drawings and development/artwork packs.
- Participate in approvals at all stages from development to production, including washes, fabrics, and techniques.
- Maintain strong relationships with Product teams.
- Manage PLM activities including uploading tech packs, colours, and creating BOMS.
- Possess strong fabric, technique/process, and fit knowledge.
- Conduct regular comp shop and inspirational shopping trips.
What We Are Looking For
- Excellent knowledge of competitor & aspirational brands.
- Excellent eye for colour, print, and design.
- Excellent CAD skills including Adobe Illustrator.
- PLM experience is preferable.
- Ideally hold a BAhons in Fashion Design, Print, Illustration, or Textiles.
- Strong relevant design experience at the Designer level.
- Management experience is required.
- A proactive attitude towards all aspects of work.
- Delegation, negotiation, and influencing skills are key.
