Murphy is recruiting for an IT Business Analyst to work within the IT team either in the North West, Leeds, or London (3 days on site). Operating in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada, and the USA, Murphy provides better engineered solutions to infrastructure sectors including transportation, water, power, and natural resources. It is vital that we have robust support functions in place to ensure our teams out on projects can run smoothly.

A day in the life of a Murphy Business Analyst:
- Engage with sponsors, subject matter experts, and stakeholders across the business to identify, analyse, prioritise, and document functional and non-functional requirements.
- Facilitate workshops, interviews, gap analysis, and process mapping sessions to define current/future-state processes and develop business cases.
- Review and analyse documentation, data, information, and change requests taking action and acting upon conclusions accordingly.
- Support those requesting new projects and improvements to develop summary requirement, objective, strategic alignment, and benefits information that help inform triage, signposting, business cases, and prioritisation.
- Translate business needs into clear, concise, and testable requirements or user stories and present these back to sponsors, subject matter experts, and stakeholders.
- Identify interdependencies, risks, and issues that may adversely impact delivery of IT projects and work plans.
- Work closely internally with architects, developers, and technical teams, and externally with third-party suppliers and vendors, to define solution options and assess feasibility.
- Ensure proposed solutions align with business objectives, technology standards, and organisational strategy.
- Support the delivery lifecycle by providing clarification of requirements, attending stand-ups, and reviewing deliverables.
- Analyse existing business processes to identify inefficiencies, risks, and opportunities for optimisation.
- Recommend technology-enabled improvements and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist in designing new workflows, data models, and system enhancements.
- Develop test cases and acceptance criteria aligned to requirements.
- Support system and user acceptance testing by coordinating sessions, validating functionality, and documenting defects.
Stakeholder Engagement & Change Management:
- Develop trusted and robust relationships with sponsors, subject matter experts, stakeholders, and IT staff ensuring alignment, transparency, and effective communication to maximise project delivery success.
- Prepare user guides, training materials, and communication packs for new system implementations or upgrades.
- Support change management activities to ensure smooth adoption of technology solutions and handover of services to Business as Usual.

- Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or related discipline. BCS Business Analysis qualifications, or equivalent knowledge and experience in business analysis.
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst supporting the delivery of digital transformation.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrable experience in documenting requirements, process mapping, writing user stories, benefits analysis, presenting, and facilitation.
- Flexible and adaptable with well-developed analytical, investigative, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, underpinned by a keen eye to detail, a can-do attitude, and a determination to succeed.
- Able to work individually or engage and operate in collaboration with a broad range of professionals and stakeholders across the business, with well-developed listening, interpretation, influencing, and negotiating skills.
- Able to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical staff at all levels, internal and external to the business, in a way that is meaningful to them, and that builds trusted relationships and partnerships.
- A good understanding of change management and experience using the ADKAR model or similar.
- Strong understanding of product development, Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies along with business analysis tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, JIRA, Visio, BPM tools).
- Willing to travel to Murphy sites and offices as required to deliver projects and be part of the ongoing development.
