A day in the life of a Murphy Quantity Surveyor involves:

  • Aiding in the internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required.
  • Preparing Valuations/Applications for Payment with full documentation in accordance with the contract.
  • Controlling Cost Reports to the Client with contractually compliant documentation.
  • Preparing and managing subcontract and material procurement schedules.
  • Administering subcontractor/supplier accounts from the preparation of detailed requisitions, monitoring, and authorisation of subcontract payments through to agreement of final accounts.
  • Undertaking contract administration, including change management and maintaining associated registers.
  • Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering, and change.
  • Using cost allocation/coding which satisfies both internal and external requirements.
  • Measuring quantities in accordance with the standard methods of measurement as required.
  • Assisting in the preparation of project final accounts.
  • Drafting subcontracts including professional services.

Qualifications:

  • HND/Degree qualification.
  • Proven experience within a Commercial role i.e., Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Quantity Surveyor, or a similar role.
  • Registered with RICS / ICES and working towards chartership.
  • Knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract, NEC preferable together with Standard Methods of Measurement.
