Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Buyer Subcontract Buyer to work with Transportation on the TRUe project at Shipley and Leeds. The Senior Subcontract Buyer role provides a professional procurement service for the CP7 North West and Central framework striving to achieve value for money and high stakeholder satisfaction. The role delivers outcomes and objectives as agreed with the Procurement Manager whilst also managing subcontract procurement for the programme of works. The Senior Subcontract Buyer role sits in the Commercial Team and reports to the Procurement Manager. As this role covers sites across the North West, it will take instruction from Senior Management across the programme of works and provide support to the wider procurement strategy.
A day in the life of a Murphy Senior Subcontract Buyer includes:
- Ensuring that appropriate behaviours and ‘best for project’ approaches are always adopted, leading by example in the pursuit of successful delivery.
- Negotiating directly with suppliers to ensure the best benefits from the best rates and terms for the supply of subcontract packages.
- Working in partnership with the Procurement Manager, approving bid proposals and specifications to make recommendations.
- Undertaking supplier approval administration duties and supplier relationship building.
- Progressing purchase orders and communicating issues to the wider teams.
- Placement of orders for subcontract purchases, in conjunction with company guidelines.
- Providing support to Project teams and wider team disciplines on issues concerning purchasing.
- Managing the tender process for subcontract packages through Asite.
- Meeting with operational teams and delivering their buying requirements.
- Ensuring savings, rebates and compliance are achieved in line with Murphy procurement strategy and associated policies and procedures.
- Executing end to end procurement processes, including data collection, document preparation, negotiation, contract award, contract management and supplier relationship management.
- Managing communication with subcontractors and internal stakeholders.
- Maintaining auditable records in line with governance and contract.
- Feeding into the PPC weekly reporting schedule.
- Maintaining/updating the Procurement Schedule.
- Embedding the use of Asite with the project teams.
- Undertaking any other reasonable duties required in line with capabilities, the needs of the project, and the wider team.
