This is a process-driven role which will require a keen attention to detail, and the ability to follow an approved procedure, to ensure compliance with Client requirements and specifications.
The role of Materials Coordinator & Expeditor ensures a high level and consistent approach to all specialist materials management, proactive stock, quality assurance, and specification compliance on the Peterborough MCPD project. The role is split between office and hands-on, issuing materials to the Construction Team in a timely fashion and offloading and storing material receipts.
A day in the life of a Murphy Material Coordinator includes:
- Maintaining liaison with the Technical Materials Manager and Project PM relating to all aspects of ordering materials, manufacturing status and deliveries to site.
- Working closely with the project team to ensure programmes are met and material issues are dealt with in a timely fashion.
- Ensuring project controls are complete, such as review of project MTO, population of Material Schedule and completing isometric material issue, to align with production schedules.
- Liaising with the project team to ensure all materials are available for production, and flagging any identified materials shortage or supply issues appropriately.
- Checking all material receipts and certificates to ensure they meet applicable specifications and purchase orders, including both Murphy procured and free issue materials.
- Providing supervision during busy periods when additional personnel are employed to aid works.
- Maintaining the Material Schedule throughout the life of the project, ensuring all relevant materials are included, both free-issue and Murphy procured, and compiling a list of surplus materials once the project is complete.
- Accurately tracking all materials in and out of the schedule and using the approved forms to receipt and issue.
- Ensuring all materials are stored suitably, in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations, and that any non-compatible materials are well segregated.
- Maintaining Material Traceability throughout the project lifecycle and checking certification held on the Sharepoint Drive.
