Murphy is recruiting for an IT Technician to work with the IT Team at Caithness. Operating in the United Kingdom, Ireland, Canada and the USA, Murphy provides better engineered solutions to infrastructure sectors including transportation, water, power and natural resources. So that our teams out on projects can run smoothly, it is vital that we have robust support functions in place. A day in the life of a Murphy IT Analyst / Support Engineer includes:

  • Collaborative working both within the IT department and wider business for items including supporting new service go-lives and project delivery.
  • Ensuring IT Operations tickets are created for every task undertaken, are appropriately updated, escalated where necessary, completed and closed in line with SLA and Service Desk processes.
  • Visiting sites when required to set up IT equipment and ensure that all IT site setups are consistent and to the required standard, delivered according to the set KPI.
  • Certifying that all office IT equipment is delivered and collected from users to support agile working.
  • Ensuring all Site IT systems and equipment, i.e. switches, wireless access points, are set up to the required standard, updated where applicable, fully documented and, where applicable, asset tagged and tracked in the IT Asset Database.
  • Supporting core systems within the desktop and mobile environment with users and the business in the deployment of company mobiles and mobile devices, along with the deployment and ongoing support of Teams rooms VC suites across the business.
  • Assisting IT Management in ensuring that IT department procedures and policies are followed.
  • Attending and engaging in regular IT departmental and technical meetings to check on departmental achievements, issues, and project progress.
  • Keeping all applicable IT Server rooms, workshop areas and project site deliveries tidy and free from safety hazards, and informing IT management of any requirements or issues.
  • Seeking to understand business needs and demonstrating creative ways to improve IT processes.
  • Undertaking any reasonable duties expected of you.

Previous exposure in a Technical Operations role or equivalent is required, along with previous experience as a hands-on Support Engineer, desk side. Practical experience of Site IT delivery and support is essential, as well as excellent customer engagement, organisational skills, and good patience.
