Murphy is recruiting for an Environmental Manager to work with the Energy Team on the National Grid, HWUP Project. A day in the life of a Murphy Environmental Manager:

  • Establish and provide leadership in best practice in environmental and sustainability matters in conjunction with the SHESQ function.
  • Ensure management controls are in place so that all personnel are aware of their statutory duties and responsibilities, and to provide advice as and when required.
  • Take a lead with site management teams to ensure compliance with all requirements stipulated in the environmental and sustainability plans.
  • Lead, partake and oversee accident/incident investigations in accordance with the Company procedure and, analysing all data, making recommendations to avoid any reoccurrences.
  • Collate & review environmental and sustainability statistics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement environmental and sustainability campaigns and improvement plans in agreement with the Operations Director / SHES Director.
  • Manage and where required be involved in the preparation & review of environmental and sustainability documents including those of 3rd parties.
  • Produce environmental and sustainability plans, procedures and associated documentation and check compliance.
  • Identify significant environmental and sustainability issues and help set-up contracts/yards to include appropriate controls.
  • Manage and identify any environmental and sustainability consents/permits or exemptions that are required and ensure they are obtained.
  • Provide reports, presentations, and information as directed by the Business / SHESQ function.
  • Input and review of pre-qualification, tender and environmental and sustainability award submission.

  • Understanding of practical environmental risk mitigation on significant construction projects such as waste management, water management and pollution prevention, statutory nuisance, contaminated land, ecological mitigation, consents, licensing and DCO experience and biodiversity net gain.
  • Solid understanding of Net Zero principles.
  • Experience within carbon measurement and action to drive reduction/efficiency.
  • Experience in environmental incident management and investigation.
