Murphy is recruiting for a SHES Advisor to work with Energy as part of our delivery of the Great Grid partnership (GGP). We offer a wide range of services including design, construction and commissioning. We deliver Engineering, Procurement & Construction (EPC) projects serving both regulated and private customers along with technical and engineering solutions within the conventional power and energy transition markets. Our continual drive to innovate, while encouraging sustainability, ensures we remain at the forefront of the industry, and is demonstrated in our long‐standing relationships with major energy providers in multiple countries.

A Day in the Life

  • Establish and promote best practice in environmental and sustainability matters in conjunction with the wider function.
  • Carry out regular inspections of sites and workplaces to determine whether work is being carried out in accordance with Company Policy, Procedures, and the relevant Statutory Provisions.
  • Carry out incident investigations in accordance with the Company procedure and, analysing all data, making recommendations to avoid any reoccurrences.
  • Collate Business / Contract environmental and sustainability statistics in a timely manner and submit to the Environmental Management & wider function for reporting purposes.
  • Review environmental information to identify trends and areas for improvement. Develop and implement Environmental campaigns and improvement plans in agreement with the environmental Management.
  • Advise and support project teams with managing their environmental and sustainability responsibilities.
  • Provide advice, support, and assistance to all project personnel to enable them to manage their environmental responsibilities.
  • Identify significant Environmental issues for contracts / yards and help set‐up contracts / yards to include appropriate controls.
  • Identify environmental consents / permits or exemptions that are required and ensure they are obtained.
  • Maintain records as necessary to ensure compliance with Legislation, Company procedures and Contract Requirements.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in an Environmental Advisory role or similar.
  • Qualified with an Environmental Degree.
  • Working knowledge of application of environmental law in the construction industry.
  • Experience within Civil Engineering and/or Construction.
  • Working towards IEMA is desirable.
  • Knowledge of the ISO 9001, 14001 and BS OHSAS 18001 standards.
