Salary: £32,000 - £36,000 (negotiable depending on experience)

Hours of Work: Mon-Fri, 10 hours per day between the hours of 6am – 6pm

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Transport Planner (Containers) for our Yorkshire operations. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient and compliant movement of containerized goods, delivering exceptional service to our customers while optimizing operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport Planning & Execution: Transport planning for Yorkshire operations. Oversee the delivery and execution of daily transport plans. Collaborate with the North-West team to ensure smooth handovers for nighttime operations.
  • Customer Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for customer queries related to deliveries, collections, and late runner updates.
  • Operational Coordination: Plan and schedule container movements, manage bookings, and oversee collections and deliveries. Liaise with internal teams, subcontractors, shipping lines, and ports/rail terminals to ensure seamless operations.
  • Subcontractor Management: Optimize subcontractor usage to balance volume requirements and daily revenue targets.
  • Performance & Compliance: Monitor KPIs and proactively resolve operational issues and delays. Ensure compliance with UK road transport regulations, driver hours, and the Working Time Directive (WTD).
  • Strategic Development: Develop and implement transport strategies to enhance efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Proven experience in container transport planning and operations management.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK transport regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work under pressure and resolve operational challenges quickly.
