At a glance, your role is to support the management team, working as part of the team to ensure that food is served to the correct specification, that the kitchen operates safely and efficiently and that high standards of cleanliness and customer service are consistently maintained. Our pubs open early and close late, so we offer great flexibility with shift patterns, including mornings, evenings, weekends and late finishes.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and guiding the kitchen operation, leading by example, demonstrating how to complete tasks, motivating and coaching associates to:
    • ensure that food is prepared, cooked, served and presented in line with company standards.
    • lead the team to achieve food‑delivery‑time targets.
    • provide friendly customer interactions: say “hello”, thank customers and build rapport.
    • be knowledgeable about promotions, events and new products.
    • maintain our clean as you go standards, ensuring that the kitchen is cleaned and maintained throughout the day, in line with guidelines.
  • Assisting in managing stock levels by coaching the team, minimising wastage and monitoring the correct portioning and serving of meals.
  • Assisting in receiving deliveries, in line with Wetherspoon’s policies, reporting any anomalies to the manager.
  • Assisting with opening and closing duties, ensuring that the kitchen is prepared for service and closed down correctly.
  • Supporting the training, mentoring and motivation of associates during shifts.
  • Helping to maintain compliance with company policies, health and safety standards and operational procedures.
