Job Overview

Purpose of the position: â—¾ As an integral member of our team, you will contribute to the fabrication of JCPSA steel structures and their components, playing a pivotal role in our production process. â—¾ The responsibilities of this role require a high level of precision, with a paramount focus on safety throughout all operations. â—¾ Proficiency in utilising associated equipment, coupled with your experience and qualifications, will be essential in ensuring the accuracy and quality of our products. â—¾ Development of Team & Company: Constantly looking for ways to improve efficiency, service and reduce costs. Contribute to a motivating atmosphere, promote teamwork and co-operation. Encourage change and improvement. Support the team leaders in any productive operation relevant to task/training. Keen team player, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, ready to learn our product range and company procedures, will work flexibly.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high‑quality welding and fabricating services to facilitate the smooth and efficient running of site manufacturing within the Chichester facility.
  • Carry out various fabricating operations such as grinding, cutting, and preparation duties as necessary.
  • Read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
  • Utilise hand‑held tools (screw guns, drill guns, grinders) for general fabrication tasks, as well as welding hand tools.
  • Accurately measure using tools like callipers, weld gauges, and measuring devices.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on welding machines and continuously assess machine performance to enhance efficiency and reduce cycle times.
  • Manage inventory of manufacturing products and welding consumables to support uninterrupted production.
  • Establish specific weldment set‑ups and fixing to meet geometric requirements as per specifications.
  • Conduct quality checks throughout the fabrication process to guarantee adherence to quality standards.
  • Identify and document any product defects encountered during fabrication and perform rework or repair on welded parts and products as per engineering specifications.
  • Execute all work in compliance with established quality standards and safety protocols.
  • Effectively communicate with management staff to prioritise workflow and ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment to uphold workplace safety standards.
  • Assist any tasks or comparable duties with trained operatives as required by supervisors.
  • Ensure that the working area is kept tidy, housekeeping duties required and all practices kept within the Health and Safety guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as welder.
  • Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (MIG, MAG etc.).
  • Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, callipers, grinders, cutters etc.).
  • Preference for candidates with experience in variety of welding techniques, particularly in aluminium and steel materials.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
  • Knowledge of relative operational and personal safety standards.
  • Deftness and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in English with literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Successful completion of a relevant apprenticeship/training program is preferred.
  • Professional Certification (e.g., an AWS welding certificate) will be an advantage.

7:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday
