These roles are based at JCB’s product engineering sites in the UK Midlands where new and innovative vehicle projects are born. As a member of the Systems Engineering team within the Electrical and Controls Category Team you’ll be driving the Business forward through the development and integration of complex electronic systems on products like the unmistakable JCB Backhoe Loader, the class‑leading JCB Loadall and the innovative JCB Fastrac.
What does this role involve day to day?
- Working hands‑on with a varied range of off‑highway construction and agricultural vehicles to develop, debug, and integrate electronic vehicle systems.
- Collaborate with product teams to influence and determine the system requirements for future JCB products.
- Conducting system validation testing on rigs and on vehicle.
- Investigating and performing benchmarking of emerging technologies within the domain to inform technology roadmaps for JCB’s wider engineering team.
- Working with internal teams and external suppliers to achieve your project goals.
For more senior roles:
- Specifying vehicle system architectures.
- Leading structured problem‑solving processes with multi‑disciplined teams, driving critical thinking and process adherence.
- Leading teams.
- Mentoring less experienced engineers.
This will be suited to you if…
- You have relevant domain experience and can work independently, applying sound engineering principles to your work with drive and passion.
- You hold a degree qualification in an electrical or systems engineering discipline.
- You are confident working under pressure and making decisions.
- You communicate clearly and concisely.
- You have a practical understanding of vehicle systems, and “how things work”.
- You have a desire to learn and develop.
