As a Sustainability Advisor – Maternity Cover at JCB World Headquarters, you’ll play a key role in supporting JCB’s roadmap toward reducing environmental impact across factories and facilities globally. This maternity cover position sits within the Group Sustainability and Environmental function, working closely with Group Manufacturing and other internal teams to deliver accurate reporting, compliance, carbon reduction initiatives and wider sustainability improvements. You’ll contribute to JCB’s “Road to Zero” strategy, ensuring the business meets regulatory requirements, follows best practice, and continuously improves its environmental performance.

What does this role involve day to day?

  • Road to Zero – Factories & Facilities
    • Working with Group Manufacturing to deliver factory energy reduction projects.
    • Reviewing and improving energy metering systems across all JCB factories.
    • Producing monthly reporting against climate related KPIs and supporting monthly review meetings.
    • Supporting and delivering actions required for quality assurance processes, such as BSI accreditations.
    • Ensuring robust SOPs are in place to enable accurate and compliant environmental reporting.
    • Completing group carbon reporting for factories and facilities (including SECR, ESOS and other required submissions).
    • Monitoring evolving legislation and standards for carbon and reporting to ensure future compliance.
    • Supporting Climate Change Agreement activities.
    • Identifying and project managing system development needs to improve reporting and data accuracy.
  • Environment – Factories & Facilities
    • Contributing to the Group Environmental team on packaging strategy and tracking progress against sustainability targets.
    • Supporting monitoring and reduction of environmental noise where required.
    • Developing knowledge and supporting improvement activities across wider environmental topics such as water consumption.
    • Identifying current and future environmental legislative requirements relevant to JCB exports.
    • Driving waste monitoring, reporting and improvement initiatives across factories and facilities.

This will be suited to you if…

  • Essential
    • You are confident using Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
    • You have experience in data collection, cleansing and analysis.
    • You have experience reporting against KPIs and driving corrective actions.
  • Desirable
    • You have experience in carbon reporting, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
    • You hold a relevant sustainability or environmental qualification.
