About the Role:
The Senior Buyer in JCB is responsible for liaising with stakeholders in the business to define and ensure supplier performance criteria is met and implemented through the sourcing strategies. You will provide the link between the category management team and other areas of the supply chain. You\’ll need to make recommendations and liaise with the respective business unit and category teams to receive and advise on the strategic direction. You\’ll be required to have an in-depth understanding of the products/services required by the business and make recommendations that motivate a change in contract or products that drive competitive pricing. You must have the confidence and ability to build constructive relationships with all stakeholders.
What does this role involve day to day:
• You’ll assist stakeholders in establishing and managing to resolution issues relating to price, capacity, quality and customer service / warranty.
• You’ll oversee the implementation of strategies, facilitate the timely execution of products for new product launches and supplier recovery and / or improvement programmes.
• You’ll work with the team to develop commercial contracts to deliver the needs of the business.
• You’ll support category strategy development and define supplier performance criteria based on business knowledge and intelligence.
• You’ll initiate and build stakeholder management to ensure delivery of projects.
• You’ll identify the business structure collaboration required to ensure optimisation of resources within a category.
•You’ll deliver robust implementation plans in line with the sourcing strategy. These plans should support, but not be limited to:
• Effective early supplier engagement.
• Cost Saving projects
• Tendering
• Contracting
• Capacity management
• Supplier performance targets
• Monitors progress of strategies and modifies in line with the changing business environment.
This will be suited to you if:
· You have significant purchasing experience in a fast-paced setting, preferably in a manufacturing environment however this is not essential
· Your experience has given you an understanding of several key areas: category management, budget planning, supplier contracts and project management. While this expertise is vital, success will depend on the way you deal with people.
· You have excellent communication skills that help you negotiate and lead teams.
· You have a CIPS qualification, this is ideal but not essential
· You have high levels of financial awareness, NPI experience and keen attention to detail.
