We’re seeking an experienced and driven E&C (Electrical & Controls) Design Manager to lead the delivery of New Product Introduction Programme (NPIP) projects alongside the support and continuous improvement of current production machines. This is an exciting opportunity suited to both experienced Design Managers and ambitious engineers ready to step into a more senior leadership role. The role offers the chance to apply established leadership capability or further develop experience in team management, programme delivery, and stakeholder engagement within a fast-paced engineering environment.
Focused on delivery, execution, and team leadership, you’ll take ownership of the day-to-day performance of the E&C design team, ensuring all activities are aligned to programme milestones and business objectives. Working closely with the Engineering Manager, you’ll help shape team structure, capability, and resourcing to meet both current and future demands.
What does this role involve day to day:
- Leading, developing, and growing the E&C design team, including recruitment to meet programme requirements.
- Owning the day-to-day delivery and performance of the team, ensuring all design activities are progressing to plan.
- Managing and tracking NPIP E&C work packages, ensuring delivery against defined milestones and gateway requirements.
- Maintaining clear visibility of progress, risks, and dependencies, and driving timely resolution of issues.
- Overseeing E&C support for current production machines, including design changes, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
- Leading root cause analysis and ensuring effective, timely corrective actions are implemented.
- Driving improvements in cost, quality, and reliability through structured engineering changes.
- Providing clear and structured reporting on programme delivery and product health to senior stakeholders, including the Product Group Chief Engineer.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams such as Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Aftermarket to ensure seamless delivery.
- Engaging with suppliers to ensure technical requirements and delivery expectations are achieved.
- Providing technical direction and oversight, ensuring adherence to engineering standards, processes, and best practice.
- Supporting resource planning and team strategy in partnership with the Engineering Manager.

- You have strong experience in Electrical & Controls engineering within a relevant industry.
- You have a proven track record of delivering within NPIP or gated engineering programmes.
- You are confident owning day-to-day team delivery and driving performance in a fast-paced environment.
- You have experience recruiting, developing, and leading engineering teams.
- You are comfortable collaborating with senior leadership on resource planning and team strategy.
- You are confident communicating delivery status, risks, and recovery plans to senior stakeholders, including Chief Engineer level.
- You have a proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong problem-solving capability.
- You are an effective communicator who can work cross-functionally and influence at all levels.
- You hold a degree in Electrical, Electronic, or a related Engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
