An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Development Engineer to join the engineering team of the world’s leading manufacturer of Backhoe Loaders and SiteSafe articulated dumpers, within the Mid‑Range product group. Reporting to the Test & Development Manager, you will join a dedicated and passionate team working on a variety of innovative programmes that support the development and improvement of JCB’s current and future products.
What does this role involve day to day?
- Testing and developing both new and existing product designs
- Investigating technical issues and proposing effective design solutions
- Reviewing product changes to ensure compliance with external and internal DVPSOR requirements
- Analyzing, reporting, and presenting test results
- Designing, commissioning, and operating bespoke test rigs
- Working closely with internal teams and external partners throughout project phases
- Taking ownership of smaller projects or specific machine areas, depending on experience
This will be suited to you if…
- You have a Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, or relevant equivalent experience
- You have experience in the design or development of off‑highway vehicles (beneficial but not essential)
- You have a good working knowledge of drivetrain, hydraulic, and electrical/electronic systems
- You have a proactive, enthusiastic attitude with a strong desire to succeed
- You have excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
