The LiveLink team sits at the heart of JCB’s connected technology strategy, supporting the uptime and performance of a global fleet of over 500,000 connected machines. Our core product, JCB LiveLink, is a cloud-based telematics platform that enables customers to monitor machine safety, sustainability, and efficiency across JCB equipment, mixed fleets, construction projects, and agricultural sites. We’re looking for a highly motivated Data Engineer to play a critical role within the JCB LiveLink development team. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape and evolve our data infrastructure, ensuring reliable, scalable, and efficient data flow for both analytical and operational use. You’ll design, build, and maintain modern data pipelines that underpin advanced analytics and machine learning on an AWS-based platform.
What does this role involve day to day?
- Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines for both real-time and batch processing of telematics data
- Building and maintaining robust ETL processes to ingest and integrate data from multiple sources
- Developing cloud-native data solutions using AWS services including S3, Glue, Redshift, Lambda, Kinesis, and Step Functions
- Designing, implementing, and optimising SQL and NoSQL databases to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability
- Managing large-scale datasets using Apache Iceberg tables and S3-backed table formats, enabling efficient querying, storage optimisation, and versioning
- Creating automated workflows for data ingestion, transformation, and model training using infrastructure-as-code principles
- Supporting MLOps and CI/CD pipelines for machine learning model deployment and automation
- Implementing data quality, validation, monitoring, and governance processes to ensure accuracy and integrity
- Working closely with data analytics and engineering teams to support model training, deployment, and ongoing monitoring
This will be suited to you if…
- You have hands-on experience designing and building data pipelines for large-scale or data-intensive platforms
- You’ve worked with ETL pipelines and data warehousing solutions in cloud environments
- You have strong experience with AWS data services, including S3, Glue, Redshift, Lambda, Kinesis, and Step Functions
- You have practical experience working with Apache Iceberg or similar modern table formats
- You’re comfortable working with SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL and MongoDB preferred)
- You have experience applying infrastructure-as-code principles using tools such as AWS CloudFormation
- You’re proficient in modern programming languages for data engineering and automation (Python or Java preferred)
- You have experience with real-time messaging or streaming technologies such as Apache Flink, AWS Kinesis, or SQS
- You understand how data pipelines support machine learning training, inference, and monitoring
- You take ownership of your work, enjoy solving complex problems, and are motivated by building scalable, high-quality data solutions
- You’re comfortable working both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams
- You’re passionate about data engineering and continuously learning emerging technologies
