The Milling Foreman is primarily responsible for supervising crews engaged in asphalt milling operations on construction sites. They ensure that all milling activities are conducted efficiently, effectively, and in strict compliance with safety standards. The Milling Foreman plays a key role in project success through careful coordination, planning, and execution of daily operations, including equipment management and production targets. Overtime may be required to meet project deadlines.

How you will make an IMPACT:
  • Provide guidance to crews to ensure compliance with design, project specifications, regulations, and safety codes.
  • Ensure crew complies with all Health and Safety policies and regulations.
  • Facilitate mandatory toolbox talks.
  • Ensure completion of daily job hazard assessments.
  • Ensure completion of any safety/incident investigations.
  • Verify the quantity of necessary personal protective equipment and the replacement of any equipment that is damaged.
  • Verify that crew members complete vehicle and equipment safety inspections.
  • Aid in the planning, organizing, direction, control, and evaluation of construction projects onsite from start to finish according to schedule, specifications, and budget.
  • Inspect and measure work completed.
  • Ensure that proper materials and quantities of materials are onsite each day prior to daily work commencing.
  • Represent the company to the public appropriately and maintain good working relationships with client representatives and consulting engineers.
  • Take ownership of team development by delivering ongoing training, modeling J-AAR’s Values, and fostering a shared commitment to living them in daily work.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one check-ins with team members to provide feedback, support development, address concerns proactively, and reinforce J-AAR’s values in day-to-day work.
  • Work with crew to overcome any work challenges.
  • Periodically reassess daily goals to meet forecasted production.
  • Address and resolve any issues that may arise between crew members.
  • Promote a positive team environment.
  • Complete administrative duties onsite including daily logs and photos, health and safety reports, quality reports, compliance reports, incident reports, timesheets, packing slips, weigh tickets and any other documentation as required.
  • May be asked to assist Site Superintendent with recommending personnel actions such as hiring, releasing, promotions and discipline.
  • Other duties as assigned.
How you WOW us:
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Flexible regarding hours worked and travel time.
  • Ability to coach, mentor and teach crew members.
  • 2-5 years construction site supervision experience.
  • Proficient in the principle of civil construction: sewer and water man, dry utilities, road and parking lot construction, earth works, and grading.
  • Working knowledge of practices, procedures and documentation for fall protection, traffic control, hoisting and rigging, electrical hazards, signaler instructions, utility locates, and confined space.
  • Takes responsibility and acts with integrity.
  • Valid G Class Driver’s License with clean abstract.
  • Ability to keep accurate records.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Health & Safety.
  • Strong attention to detail.
