We are seeking a Senior Project Manager who is aspiring to reach their potential in the field of construction, reporting to the Construction Manager. The Senior Project Manager works closely with Estimators, Site Supervisors, General Superintendents, and other Project Managers to ensure success on assigned projects in harmony with other demands on company resources.
Environment
While supporting a construction environment you will be working both on construction sites and within an office environment. You will have the ability to work the occasional evenings and weekends. Your support may be required outside of normal work hours. Overtime required as necessary for completion of projects.
How you will make an IMPACT
- Define and clarify project scopes, develop project work plans and schedules
- Complete job start-up tasks
- Coordinate and organize materials and subcontractors
- Issue complete Purchase Orders prior to material delivery or subcontractor work is performed
- Coordinate long term crew requirements for the project with Site Supervisor and communicate with General Superintendents and Construction Manager
- Lead the direction of the project consistent with the above
- Verify work plans are in place and being followed, or document and communicate when operational improvements have been made
- Ensure timely reporting on projects at weekly cost control meeting, weekly operations meeting, bi-weekly meetings
- Ensure timely invoicing of projects, timely review and approval of invoices or invoice reports, and timely and accurate assembly of monthly accruals
- Keep projects on track by regular review of schedule, progress and performance
- Evaluate cause of deviations from plan and develop and take corrective actions to address deviations
- Be responsible and accountable for the projects, tasks and timelines that are assigned
- Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations for construction projects by implementing the John Aarts Group Health and Safety Program
- Perform additional assignments as directed by the Construction Manager for successful project completion
- Can independently complete strategic work and contract planning with minimal or no assistance

- Diploma or degree in construction engineering or a related field (C.E.T or P Eng. Preferred)
- 10 - 20 years of experience in heavy civil construction
- Proven experience influencing and leading projects to outperform expectations
- A history of successfully planning work and leading teams
- Demonstrates organized, efficient and systemic coordination
- Advanced and efficient problem solving
- Possesses advanced technical knowledge, respected in the industry
- Strong leadership, influence and interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Attention to detail
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Experience with Bluebeam, Microsoft Office and Heavyjob is an asset
- Ability to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, key business partners, and government agencies
