We are seeking a Controller who is aspiring to reach their potential in business. Reporting to the VP Finance, the Controller will be an integral part of the Business Intelligence team’s reporting, analysis, and compliance.

Environment

The Controller will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end process of preparing and delivering accurate financial statements across a multi-entity organization, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment, accuracy, and compliance. The Controller will also develop and enhance procedures, internal controls, and processes to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and efficiency of financial operations.

How you will make an IMPACT

  • Lead the month end accounting process of the J-AAR group of companies, which includes the preparation and posting of month end journal entries, reviewing project percentage of completion, assessing inventory adjustments, preparation/review of account reconciliations, oversight of intercompany reconciliations, and reviewing transactions for accuracy.
  • Maintain a strong focus on accuracy and completeness by reviewing transactional data, validating financial results, and ensuring adherence to internal controls and accounting policies.
  • Act as a key financial partner to operations, providing expert guidance on project accounting and other accounting guidelines, ensuring consistent application of ASPE.
  • Partner with project managers and divisional leaders to prepare and analyze project percentage of completion and project results.
  • Prepare quarterly consolidated financial statements and related compliance reporting with a high degree of precision and attention to detail.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly divisional financial statements and provide variance analysis to support divisional leaders in assessing performance.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, enhanced efficiency, improved controls, etc., and drive those improvements to advance operational excellence.
  • Lead the year-end external audit process end-to-end, ensuring audit readiness through well-organized working papers, accurate financial statements and disclosures, and effective coordination with external auditors.
  • Oversee the preparation and submission of required compliance filings, and other ad-hoc compliance requests as needed.
  • Work alongside the BI leadership team on various ad-hoc projects or reporting requests to support strategic and operational initiatives.
  • Provide support for the ERP system implementation and related initiatives, as required.
