To help us deliver our medical image analysis solutions to large clinical trials we are hiring a dedicated Test Engineer on a permanent full-time capacity.
Purpose of the Role: The Test Engineer role is involved across a range of activities, including the evaluation of requirements, the development of test cases, execution of test scripts, and supporting subject matter experts in the completion of testing. The role holder also contributes to the continuous improvement of testing processes and the automation of testing activities. Working within an Agile environment, the role holder supports the deployment and enhancement of IXICO’s flagship clinical trial management and medical image analysis platform, enabling the business to deliver imaging and digital biomarker analytical services for clinical development.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Evaluate, explore and model the product and features to be tested.
- Collaborate with IXICO’s Developers, Scientists and Business Analysts to design tests.
- Proactively learn and apply test design principles.
- Generate test ideas and heuristics.
- Author test scripts.
- Weigh-in on design and testing considerations, estimates and approach during our Agile SDLC (feature planning, grooming, etc).
- Identify and provide feedback on the gap/anomalies in the requirements.
- Attend sprint planning meetings and discuss testing issues.
- Execute test scripts.
- Analyse results of test sessions.
- Write clear and concise bug reports and steps to reproduce.
Qualifications and skills required for the role:
Essential:
- Bachelor’s or master’s in a technical discipline e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Science– or an exceptional candidate with according to experience.
- Ability to create exploratory tests from stories/requirements.
- Experience in the execution of tests and record test results.
- Experience in investigating and diagnosing issues.
- Enthusiasm to contribute to effective test reporting.
- Ability to work through problems with minimal supervision.
- Good working knowledge of Claude Code or similar AI-assisted coding tools to support efficient test design, investigation and automation.
- Familiarity with Playwright for automated end-to-end and regression testing.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to understand complex problems in order to develop more nuanced and effective test scenarios.
- Acts as an advocate for good testing practices and continuously looks for opportunities to improve quality processes and ways of working.
Desirable:
- Proven experience of executing software testing with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge in scripting or programming languages (e.g. Bash, Python, Java).
- Working with Linux command line tools.
- Identifying tasks, dependencies and risks during backlog grooming.
- Providing reasonable test estimates.
- Knowledge of clinical trial and image analysis data workflows.
- Working on Agile projects.
