To help us deliver our medical image analysis solutions to large clinical trials we are hiring a dedicated Imaging Scientist on a permanent full-time capacity. Applications are welcomed from candidates with varying levels of experience. Appointment level will be determined based on expertise and demonstrated capability.   • Associate: Contributes to pipeline development and data analysis with guidance.
  • Mid-level: Independently develops analysis solutions and contributes to R&D projects.
  • Senior: Provides technical leadership, leads R&D initiatives, and mentors team members.

Purpose of the Role: As an Imaging Scientist at IXICO, you will develop and implement analysis solutions for medical imaging (i.e. MRI and PET) data in neurodegenerative clinical trials. You will design, validate, and deploy imaging analysis pipelines that support pharmaceutical clients and IXICO’s innovation roadmap, working across the full lifecycle from proof-of-concept research to production-ready workflows. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Biomarker Science, Operations, and Technology to translate scientific requirements into robust, scalable analysis solutions. The role includes contributing to internal and sponsor-funded R&D projects, evaluating emerging imaging methods, and advancing IXICO’s scientific capabilities in neurodegenerative disease imaging. This role offers the opportunity to work at the interface of scientific research, clinical trial imaging, and analytic product development, helping to deliver biomarkers that enable the development of therapies for neurodegenerative diseases.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Development & Delivery of Imaging Solutions: Design, develop and deliver imaging analysis pipelines based on customer needs and strategic aims. Perform scientific validation, quality control, and documentation of developed imaging solutions. Implement novel biomarkers and image processing methods into production-ready workflows. Work with cross-functional teams (Biomarker Science, Operations, Technology) to ensure seamless handover and deployment. Contribute technical descriptions of analytics solutions to proposals, charters, study documents, and marketing materials.
  • Data analysis and reporting: Perform analysis of imaging dataset, statistical investigation, and generate reports summarizing scientific insights. Assess and recommend new imaging biomarkers or analysis methodologies. Assess and validate external analytical tools and applications for use in new workflows.
  • Research and Development: Contribute to the R&D roadmap, developing new project proposals and reviewing planned initiatives. Conduct stage-gated feasibility studies and prototyping to inform future product and solution development. Translate cutting-edge research into practical solutions for clinical trials. Lead and manage contracted research projects, ensuring delivery to timelines and quality standards.
  • External Scientific Communication: Identify relevant topics for external scientific communication aligned with R&D activities. Prepare and present abstracts, posters, or publications at conferences. Contribute to marketing materials and scientific communication channels.
  • Internal support and development: Provide support for ongoing clinical trials, troubleshooting issues, and provide expert guidance to address or support others in addressing analysis issues. Contribute and support to project proposals for the strategic roadmap based on scientific advancements and/or business opportunity. Support scientific leadership on subject area for all business-related needs such as internal planning, external communications and pre-sales activities.

Qualifications and skills required for the role:

  • PhD (or equivalent industry experience) in a relevant scientific or analytical discipline (e.g. Neuroscience, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Engineering, Mathematics, etc).
  • Demonstrated expertise in at least one MR or Nuclear imaging modality and associated analysis.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, experience in Linux environments.
  • Familiarity with neuroimaging software (e.g., FSL, SPM, ANTs).
  • Good understanding of neuroanatomy and imaging biomarkers.
  • Excellent problem-solving, research, and communication skills.
  • Experience with Machine learning or deep learning techniques.
  • Experience working with large-scale imaging datasets.
  • Familiarity with clinical trial or regulated environments.
  • Experience with cloud or containerized workflows (Docker/Singularity).
  • Familiarity with regulatory or clinical trial data standards.
