To help us deliver our medical image analysis solutions to large clinical trials we are hiring a Biomarker Scientist (Clinical) on a permanent full-time capacity.
Purpose of the Role:
The Biomarker Scientist is a key expert on relevant clinical science aspects in one or several of IXICO’s core therapeutic areas (TAs), leading scientific delivery of contracted trials and supporting business development activities as subject-matter expert. The post holder engages across scientific matters in the defined TA(s) with existing and potential new clients as well as collaborators from industry and academia, relevant consortia and key opinion leaders. As part of operational delivery, the post holder is responsible for ensuring all imaging aspects during study set-up and execution support the trial’s biomarker strategy and are in line with regulatory requirements. The Senior Biomarker Scientist supports overall marketing strategy by leading on dissemination of clinical science activities through scientific papers, conference attendance and via other channels of communication.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain clinical science expertise for relevant imaging measures in assigned TA(s): Maintain knowledge of relevant literature and scientific developments.
- Understand clinical trial development landscape (drug mechanisms, key industry players, core (imaging) biomarkers).
- Keep up-to-date on relevant regulatory developments.
- Support business development activities to win new business from current and prospective clients: Serve as subject-matter expert in relevant TAs and / or imaging modalities across all stages of client engagement to support the relevant BD lead.
- Actively develop relationships with potential new customers (meetings at conferences, calls, workshops, etc.).
- Serve as scientific lead for (face-to-face) bid defences and other client meetings.
- Serve as subject matter expert to provide input into proposals, statements of work, and other external documents.
- Interpret clinical trial protocols and other customer requirement documentation, to define project-specific specifications and configurations for IXICO’s products and services.
- Ensure clinical scientific leadership of active projects, including: Lead on study reports (interim and final), Lead on regular science review, Lead development of the study imaging charter.
- Attendance and/or input as required at project meetings with Sponsor, Investigator and third Parties to provide updates for troubleshooting purposes, etc.
- Provide clinical science input to reviews of study documentation (incl. training materials, subject information, analysis SOPs).
- Support marketing initiatives to promote IXICO’s services and product in the target market and encourage future collaborations through, e.g., scientific presentations at conferences and other meetings, pro-active engagement with research groups and consortia, delivery of educational / promotional webinars, development of marketing material (website and other channels).
- Responsibility for individual TA’s and data modalities are defined for the wider science team based on job holder’s expertise and in order to address project needs and IXICO strategy.
Qualifications and skills required for the role:
- Essential Background in neuroscience, neuroimaging, or a related discipline.
- Post-graduate Qualification with a PhD or equivalent research experience in a relevant area.
- Prior experience in at least one of the following areas: Relevant work experience in a regulated clinical trial environment in CNS diseases, Clinical expertise in a neurodegenerative disease such as Alzheimer’s disease, Huntington’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis.
- An active interest to grow understanding of relevant areas of clinical and technical expertise.
- An understanding of the underlying biology/pathology and relevant biomarkers in relevant disease areas.
- An understanding of clinical trials and the associated regulatory landscape in relevant disease areas.
- Good research skills.
- Good communication skills (verbal and written).
- Strong innovative and conceptual thinking.
- Manages own time and prioritises requests.

- Willing to travel internationally for conferences and customer meetings.
