We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Health and Safety Advisor to join our Single Corporate Health and Safety Service, supporting both Isle of Wight NHS Trust and Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust. This is an excellent opportunity for a Health and Safety professional who wants to develop their career within a large, complex acute NHS environment, working closely with managers and frontline teams to promote a strong, positive safety culture and ensure compliance with health and safety legislation. This is a varied, hands-on role offering excellent exposure to multiple clinical and non-clinical environments.

Responsibilities

  • Promoting a positive health and safety culture across all services and staff groups
  • Undertaking health and safety audits, inspections and workplace assessments
  • Providing advice and guidance on risk assessments, safe systems of work and legislative compliance
  • Supporting managers with accident and incident investigations, and trend analysis to drive learning and improvement
  • Assisting with the delivery of health and safety training to a wide range of staff
  • Supporting the development and review of health and safety policies, guidance and promotional campaigns
  • Maintaining accurate records, reports and databases relating to health and safety activity
  • Providing day-to-day supervision and support to junior health and safety staff where required
