Management Accountant
Salary: Up to £50,00 per annum (DOE) | Company Benefits

Contract: Full-Time Hybrid | 40 hours per week
IWS M&E mitigates and manages risk from mechanical and electrical failures for a wide range of customers in the public and private sectors throughout the UK. An established Principle Contractor and Designer within the MEICA Process Sector, IWS M&E's specialisms include pump diagnostics and refurbishment, turn‑key project management, chemical dosing and control, and plant and infrastructure maintenance with emergency response.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Management Accountant to join our Integrated Water Services (Mechanical & Electrical) Finance team. Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, this is a key position that plays an important role in supporting business performance through the delivery of accurate financial reporting, robust financial controls, and insightful analysis. Working within a commercially focused and fast‑paced environment, you will partner with operational and senior management teams, helping to drive informed decision‑making and continuous improvement across the business. Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and strengthen financial controls, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures
- Prepare and post accruals, prepayments, journals, and balance sheet reconciliations accurately and on time
- Undertake monthly project reviews, analysing financial performance and highlighting key risks and opportunities
- Produce timely and accurate month‑end management accounts and reporting packs for a variety of stakeholders
- Support cost management activities, ensuring financial controls and processes are adhered to and continuously improved
- Build strong working relationships and communicate effectively with managers and stakeholders across the business
- Provide financial analysis and insight to support operational and commercial decision‑making
- Support statutory accounting and reporting requirements in conjunction with Group Finance
- Assist with external audit requirements and provide supporting information as required
- Contribute to a range of financial reporting and analysis activities to meet company and group requirements
- Provide support with day‑to‑day financial processing and administration as part of a small, collaborative finance team
What You’ll Need
- Qualified or finalist‑level CIMA or ACCA accountant, or equivalent professional qualification
- Proven experience in a management accounting role within a commercial environment
- Strong understanding of management accounting principles, including accruals, prepayments, journals, balance sheet reconciliations, and project accounting
- Experience producing month‑end management accounts and management reporting packs
- Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful business insight
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to explain complex financial information to senior stakeholders and leadership teams
- Advanced Excel skills and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Experience within the water, utilities, engineering, or contracting sectors would be advantageous, but is not essential
