Junior Quantity Surveyor
Salary: Upto £40,000 (depending on experience)
Location: Wallingford, Oxfordshire
Contract: Full-Time | Permanent | 40 hours per week

An established Principle Contractor and Designer within the MEICA Process sector, IWS M&E’s specialisms include pump diagnostics and refurbishment, turn-key project management, chemical dosing and control, and plant and infrastructure maintenance with emergency response.
The Role:
The Junior Quantity Surveyor will support the Commercial Team in providing accurate commercial and contractual information to operational teams. The role involves assisting with cost management, contract administration, procurement activities, valuations, and financial reporting to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and within budget. Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Managing Quantity Surveyor and Senior Quantity Surveyor in maintaining project profitability, cash flow, cost control, and accurate commercial reporting.
- Assist in the administration and management of contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, deadlines, and service requirements.
- Prepare and maintain cost reports, forecasts, budgets, cash flow projections, and cost-to-complete (CTC) information.
- Support tendering, estimating, procurement, and subcontractor engagement activities by providing accurate commercial and pricing information.
- Assist in the preparation, assessment, and management of subcontract accounts, valuations, variations, compensation events, and final accounts.
- Monitor project costs and commercial performance against budgets and KPIs, identifying risks, opportunities, and potential cost efficiencies.
- Produce and maintain accurate commercial records, reports, forecasts, and project documentation in line with company procedures.
- Support the management of client-side commercial processes, including applications for payment, compensation events, extensions of time (EOTs), and completion submissions.
- Attend client, project, and commercial review meetings, providing commercial support and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships.
- Work collaboratively with operational teams to improve commercial awareness, support efficient project delivery, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, relevant legislation, contractual requirements, and Health & Safety standards at all times.
- Promote teamwork, knowledge sharing, professional conduct, and a customer-focused approach while supporting the achievement of business objectives and profit improvement targets.
What You'll Need:
- Degree, HND/HNC, or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Previous experience in a construction, civil engineering, utilities, or commercial environment (including placements or internships).
- Basic understanding of cost management, procurement, subcontract administration, and construction contracts.
- Good commercial awareness and strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and manage multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety requirements within the construction industry.
