The Core Systems team is responsible for driving innovation by optimising development, building data systems, and continuously improving iwoca products. We follow Agile-inspired processes, using continuous integration and delivery.
We are transitioning our analytics warehouse to Snowflake from a federated SQL system to improve reliability and speed. We run various ETL tasks using libraries such as NumPy, Scikit-learn, and Pandas. The goal is to integrate all data into a single data warehouse using Snowflake and dbt.
We seek someone with experience in analytics engineering to implement high-quality ETL/ELT processes, collaborating with analysts, data scientists, and engineers to enhance our data warehouse and processes. This role offers opportunities for rapid learning and influence over critical data infrastructure.
We are moving towards a data mesh operating model and need a proactive individual to drive this change, identifying opportunities to improve data processes and designing governance frameworks to ensure data quality, security, and consistency.
- Develop, construct, test, and maintain ETL/ELT infrastructure.
- Implement robust data testing frameworks in dbt to monitor data quality and integrity.
- Enable product teams to self-serve data effectively.
- Influence the monitoring and reliability strategy for the data warehouse.
- Partner with stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver actionable solutions.
- Troubleshoot data and operational problems, providing knowledge to end-users.
- Support teammates through knowledge sharing and mentoring.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience in implementing reliable ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) for dbt project management.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for analytics workflows.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python.
- Understanding of data governance practices.
- Professional experience in analytics engineering/data analytics.
- Solid understanding of SQL with hands-on experience with dbt and Snowflake.
- Comfortable implementing custom data solutions.

- Advanced LookML knowledge.
- Experience using Pandas, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, Matplotlib.
- DevOps practices with Docker and Kubernetes.
