We are recruiting a UK qualified lawyer to work across our UK business on commercial and regulatory matters and report to iwoca’s General Counsel.
Day to day you will:
- Support and advise our credit card product team, including providing regulated payment services.
- Support and advise the wider business on commercial and regulatory issues, in cooperation with the regulatory compliance team.
- Support and advise our new ventures, including an SME M&A platform, an SME credit score service, and an insurance brokerage.
- Identify and implement process improvements to make legal work more efficient.
- Instruct and manage external legal counsel, and manage the legal budget.

- Advise and educate other members of the legal team through training.

We are looking for:
- A qualified lawyer in the UK with a minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience.
- Knowledge in payments regulations and experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Strong analytical skills to navigate legal and commercial complexity.
- Motivation to deliver high-quality legal work and a willingness to learn about unfamiliar areas of financial regulation.
- A humble attitude, reflecting on individual and team performance.
It would be nice if you:
- Have knowledge of regulations outside of payments.
- Understand lending businesses and the importance of quantifying legal risk.
