We are looking for a Paralegal with experience in debt recovery to join our in-house Litigation team. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with our team of experienced Paralegals and the Litigation Team Lead, where you will have a direct hand in shaping case strategies and driving successful outcomes.

As a Litigation Paralegal, your role will be to:

  • Independently manage and monitor the active litigation and enforcement action taken against a portfolio of users, which may include cases handled by third party debt collectors and solicitors.
  • Investigate cases and help decide case recovery strategies to maximise repayment.
  • Cooperate with the wider Litigation and Collections team to investigate more complex cases and occasionally advise on the appropriate escalation.
  • Raise and manage in-house money claims using MCOL or through the CNBC.
  • Complete Court applications to enforce County Court Judgments including charging orders, oral examinations and High Court Enforcement.
  • Prepare winding up petitions and statutory demands.
  • Manage defended cases and prepare directions questionnaires, witness statements and other evidence required for hearings and trials.
  • Occasionally attend court to swear affidavits.

We look for people who are smart, humble, motivated and who are always looking to improve. Ideally, you will have:

  • At least 1 year debt recovery or legal support experience in the commercial/business sector.
  • Proven experience of raising and managing money claims.
  • Experience in business and personal insolvency issues would be hugely beneficial.
  • Empathy, forbearance and professionalism.
  • Strong communication skills, confidence and diligence.
  • Conscientious and thorough, with strong attention to detail.
  • The ability to deal with a variety of challenges, innovate and think on your feet.
