Business Development Representative

We’re building a new insurance business from the ground up to protect SMEs, and we’re looking for Business Development Representatives to join our team. If you’re a high‑energy communicator who loves building relationships and wants to gain experience, qualifications, and career progression at a leading fintech, apply now.

The Company

Since 2012, iwoca has made finance fast, flexible, and fair for over 150,000 businesses. Now, we’re doing the same for insurance. We build a brand new insurance business from the ground up — to protect SMEs in the moments that matter most. Our passionate team is driven to help even more SMEs succeed by providing access to better finance and services that make running a business easier. Our ultimate mission is to support one million SMEs in their defining moments, creating lasting impact for the communities and economies they drive.

The team

  • Customer‑obsessed: building insurance that customers actually want, not what insurers simply want to sell.
  • Curious & supportive: collaborating across disciplines to find creative solutions to complex problems in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Move fast & have fun: fast‑paced and highly autonomous, while celebrating wins and having fun along the way.
  • Ambitious & entrepreneurial: ideal for people who thrive on taking ownership of their work and are ready to roll up their sleeves and build.

The role

You’ll introduce our new insurance offering to businesses tired of the status quo, helping SMEs move away from complicated, slow insurance policies and become aware of a fairer, more transparent way to protect their business.

  • Proactively engage with SME business operators by phone ahead of their business insurance renewal date to offer a better alternative.
  • Master the art of the pitch—navigating gatekeepers, articulating our value proposition, and turning objections into opportunities for our brokers to help them.
  • Manage your pipeline end‑to‑end within our HubSpot CRM, ensuring meticulous record‑keeping and proactive follow‑ups so that no opportunity is missed.
  • Collaborate closely with our in‑house brokers and wider team to turn early customer feedback into insights that refine our product offering and sales strategy.

Requirements

  • Previous experience navigating outbound or client‑facing interactions within a professional business environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to build rapport, influence decisions, and handle commercial objections over the phone and email.
  • A high‑energy, resilient, and results‑oriented personality that thrives on achieving goals; sharp problem‑solving instincts and a "can‑do" mindset.
  • Organised and proactive approach to managing workload.
  • Ability to adapt and excel in a fast‑moving, high‑growth atmosphere.
  • Eagerness to learn – insurance industry experience isn’t necessary; we will provide training to help you succeed.
  • A desire to secure professional qualifications and drive long‑term career progression within a rapidly scaling fintech environment.

Compensation

We expect to pay around £30,000 plus bonus for this role. We routinely benchmark salaries against market rates and run quarterly performance and salary reviews. Please include your salary goals with your application.

The culture

At iwoca, we prioritise a culture of learning, growth, and support, and invest in the professional development of our team members. We value thought and skill diversity, and encourage you to explore new areas of interest to help us innovate and improve our products and services.

Offices

  • London, Leeds, Berlin, and Frankfurt offices with plenty of drinks and snacks.
  • Events and community‑led groups, including running groups, padel, and monthly ping‑pong and pool competitions.

Benefits

  • Flexible working hours.
  • Medical insurance from Vitality, including discounted gym membership.
  • A private GP service for you, your partner, and your dependents.
  • 25 days’ holiday per year, an extra day off for your birthday, the option to buy or sell an additional five days of annual leave, and unlimited unpaid leave.
  • A one‑month, fully paid sabbatical after four years.
  • Instant access to external counselling and therapy sessions for team members that need emotional or mental health support.
  • 3% pension contributions on total earnings.
  • An employee equity incentive scheme.
  • Generous parental leave and a nursery tax benefit scheme to help you save money.
  • Electric car scheme and cycle‑to‑work scheme.
  • Two company retreats a year.

We also offer a learning and development budget for everyone, company‑wide talks with internal and external speakers, and access to learning platforms like Treehouse.
