By leveraging your deep expertise in computational science and modelling, you will design and build innovative simulations and algorithms that directly inform forecasting, strategic planning, and C-suite decisions. This is a unique opportunity to apply academic rigor to real-world business problems and see your work drive tangible commercial outcomes at a global FTSE 250 company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the R&D partner for the Head of Business Analytics, translating strategic business needs into executable analytical and technical designs.
  • Conduct hands-on, exploratory analysis and prototyping, building complex models and simulations (e.g., Monte Carlo) to test hypotheses and prove concepts for forecasting and scenario planning.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to our Data Science and Analytics team, ensuring the successful implementation, automation, and long-term scalability of the models you design.
  • Manage the entire modelling lifecycle, from initial design and development through to production, with a focus on delivering robust and accurate solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and source the data needed to build innovative and impactful analytical solutions.

Team Dynamics

This role reports into the Business Analytics Function, a centralized hub for data-driven strategy and execution. The role will be the cornerstone of a collaborative team:

  • The Data Science and Analytics Team (Your Team): As the "R&D arm" of the function, this team is responsible for translating new business questions into actionable insights and innovative analytical solutions. You will be a key driver in this group, leading the technical design and prototyping of our most challenging projects.
  • The Regional Performance Management Team: This team serves as the "boots on the ground," leveraging the tools you help to create to drive business performance.
  • The Analytics Operations Team: This team formalizes and automates established analytical processes, ensuring the long-term stability and scalability of the tools and algorithms you help to develop.

The role offers a unique opportunity to directly influence the entire analytical value chain, from initial exploration and strategic guidance to scalable implementation and on-the-ground impact.

Personal Abilities

  • Exceptional Problem-Solving: A proven ability to break down complex, ambiguous business problems into manageable analytical challenges. You thrive on intellectual puzzles and can think creatively to find solutions.
  • Deep Technical Acumen: You have a hands-on, expert-level command of computational science, statistical modelling, and coding (Python, SQL). You're comfortable getting deep into the data and the code to build prototypes.
  • A Self-Starter Mentality: You're a proactive, hands-on individual who is excited by the opportunity to design and build new things from the ground up.
  • Curiosity & Drive: A strong intellectual curiosity and a drive to stay current with the latest advancements in AI and data science, always looking for new ways to apply them to business challenges.
