A rare and wonderful opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estate Manager to take the helm of a stunning private 60–acre estate in Devon. We are looking for a highly capable, hands–on individual to oversee the smooth running of both the house and grounds, ensuring everything is always maintained to an exceptional standard.
This is a true estate management role – you will be as comfortable rolling up your sleeves as you are coordinating contractors and managing a small team. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience working on a private estate and will understand the nuances, discretion and dedication that come with the territory.
The Role
- You will be responsible for managing and supporting a resident team that includes two full–time gardeners, a caretaker, a housekeeper, a part–time gardener, and a part–time cleaner.
- Overseeing ongoing works and projects is a significant part of this role – there is always something happening on the estate and you will be the person ensuring everything runs on time and to standard.
- The principals spend up to three months per year in residence, and during these periods your schedule and pace will flex accordingly. Outside of these times, you will maintain the estate to a consistently high standard in readiness for their return.
- The principals' grandparents live on–site year–round, and part of your role will involve keeping a considerate eye on their wellbeing and day–to–day needs.
The Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience in a private setting.
- Confident leading and coordinating a small team.
- Highly practical and happy to be hands–on when needed.
- Exceptionally organised with strong contractor management skills.
- Discreet, professional, and reliable.
This is a Monday to Friday role with no requirement for regular weekend working, though flexibility during principal residency periods is expected.
