Our client, a well–established and highly respected education provider, is seeking an experienced
Director of Estates & Risk Management to lead the strategic development and operational management of its Estates, Facilities, Health & Safety, and Risk Management functions.
This is an exciting opportunity for a senior estates professional to join a forward–thinking organisation and play a key role in delivering a safe, sustainable, and high–performing estate that supports outstanding education and future growth.
The Role
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive, you will provide strategic leadership across Estates and Risk Management, ensuring the estate remains compliant, efficient, and fit for purpose while leading the delivery of capital projects, maintenance programmes, and sustainability initiatives.
Key responsibilities include
- Develop and implement the organisation's long–term Estates Strategy.
- Lead the management of Estates, Facilities, Risk Management and Health & Safety functions.
- Oversee planned and reactive maintenance programmes across multiple sites.
- Manage capital projects from planning through to completion, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
- Lead asset management and rolling maintenance programmes to maximise estate performance.
- Ensure full compliance with statutory regulations, health and safety legislation, and estates best practice.
- Develop and oversee business continuity, risk management and insurance arrangements.
- Manage contractor performance, procurement activities and supplier relationships.
- Lead sustainability initiatives, energy management and environmental improvement programmes.
- Prepare strategic reports and provide expert advice to senior leadership and the Board.
- Manage departmental budgets and deliver value–for–money services.
About You
We're looking for an experienced estates leader with a proven track record of delivering strategic estates management within a complex multi–site environment.
You will ideally have
- Significant senior leadership experience in Estates and Facilities Management.
- Experience developing and implementing estates strategies.
- A strong background in capital projects, asset management and maintenance planning.
- Excellent knowledge of Health & Safety legislation, statutory compliance and risk management.
- Experience managing large budgets, contracts and external suppliers.
- Outstanding leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A relevant professional qualification in Estates, Building Services, Surveying, Engineering, Facilities Management, Health & Safety or a related discipline.
Experience within education is desirable but not essential.
