Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust is a large, complex and ambitious organisation serving over half a million people across Wakefield and North Kirklees, with more than 10,000 colleagues delivering services across three hospital sites and multiple community settings, as well as in people's own homes.
We are now seeking a Director of Estates & Facilities to lead at a pivotal point in the Trust's development. As the Head of our Infrastructure Division you will take overall responsibility for strategic planning and operational delivery of estates and facilities across the organisation, ensuring a safe, compliant and future‑ready environment that supports high‑quality patient care. This is a high‑impact leadership role.
You will shape and deliver the Estates Strategy, align infrastructure with clinical priorities, and lead a broad portfolio including estates, facilities, capital projects, property, sustainability, PFI and medical devices. The challenge is significant. The estate is complex, with legacy infrastructure, PFI arrangements and a clear need for strong grip across compliance, capital delivery and long‑term planning. In return, this role offers real scope to influence, modernise and leave a lasting legacy.
We are looking for a senior leader with:
- A strong track record in estates and facilities at scale
- Strategic capability alongside operational delivery focus
- Experience of leading change in complex, resource‑constrained environments (ideally healthcare estates)
- The credibility to operate at the most senior level and build strong partnerships both internally and externally
This is an opportunity to lead through complexity and directly impact how care is delivered across a major NHS Trust.
