This is a key facilities management role responsible for maintaining buildings, plant and equipment, managing contractors, and ensuring safe, compliant operations within a fast–paced manufacturing environment.

SALARY: GBP43,000 to GBP45,000 per annum (dependent on qualifications) + Benefits

LOCATION: Plymouth, Devon (PL1) – Fully Site–Based

JOB TYPE: Full–Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 4.5 days per week, Monday to Friday

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Facilities Manager to join a well–established organisation operating within a manufacturing environment. This role plays a vital part in ensuring buildings, plant and equipment are maintained to high standards, supporting operational performance and safety. As Facilities Manager you will lead day–to–day facilities operations across multiple locations, working closely with operational teams and external contractors. You will focus on compliance, preventative maintenance, contractor management and continuous improvement. The Facilities Manager will also support engineering projects, oversee waste management activities and contribute to budget planning. This is a hands–on, business–facing role suited to someone who thrives in a fast–paced, operational setting.

DUTIES

  • Facilities Maintenance Oversight: Managing reactive and planned maintenance of buildings, plant and equipment
  • Contractor Management: Coordinating, supervising and controlling third–party contractors on site
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Ensuring safe working practices and improving contractor control and site standards
  • Performance Monitoring: Tracking equipment performance, availability and maintenance data
  • Operational Collaboration: Working with Operations to prioritise work and plan shutdowns
  • Preventative Maintenance: Developing and implementing maintenance schedules with the facilities team
  • Engineering Support: Assisting with new equipment installations and contractor coordination
  • Waste Management: Overseeing waste processes and ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Emergency Response: Participating in the on–call rota and responding to out–of–hours incidents
  • Budget Support: Obtaining quotations and supporting CAPEX and OPEX planning
  • Deputy Responsibilities: Acting as deputy to the Facilities Manager when required

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • Proven experience managing contractors and third–party service providers
  • Previous experience in a facilities role within manufacturing, production, industrial or logistics environments
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety compliance and contractor control
  • Experience working with planned and reactive maintenance programmes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive, solution–focused approach

DESIRABLE

  • IWFM qualification or working towards a facilities management qualification
  • Experience using CAFM systems
  • Exposure to supporting engineering projects or new equipment installations
