We are looking for a reliable and organised finance professional to join a busy and friendly finance team, supporting the day-to-day accounting function and playing a key role in credit control, reconciliations, and supplier payments. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys responsibility, accuracy, and regular interaction with customers and suppliers.
The Role
As an Accounts Assistant / Finance Assistant, you will support core finance operations, ensuring financial records are accurate, payments are processed on time, and cashflow is well controlled.
Key Responsibilities
- Generating and issuing customer invoices
- Allocating customer payments accurately to invoices
- Performing daily and monthly bank reconciliations
- Managing credit control and actively chasing outstanding debt
- Handling day-to-day finance queries from customers and suppliers
- Matching supplier invoices to purchase orders and delivery notes
- Posting invoices to purchase and sales ledgers
- Processing GBP, EUR and USD payments via online banking platforms
- Preparing and completing monthly supplier payment runs
- Reconciling company credit cards
- Completing supplier statement reconciliations
- Supporting month-end and year-end audit preparation
- Taking card payments when required
About You
You will be confident, methodical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced finance environment.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience as an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, or similar
- Strong working knowledge of Sage accounting software
- Good Excel skills (lookups, reconciliations, spreadsheets)
- Solid understanding of basic accounting principles
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Organised, structured and able to meet deadlines
- Confident communicator with a professional telephone manner
- Comfortable dealing with customers, suppliers, and internal teams
