Risk & Assurance Manager

Ivy Rock Partners is proud to support a renowned public sector organisation in hiring two skilled Risk and Assurance Managers for initial 2-year fixed-term appointments.

Main duties and responsibilities:

1. Manage the relationship with National Audit Office VfM team, and Government Internal Audit Agency, including facilitating the progress of audits.
2. Support the Head of Assurance and Head of Risk to develop the departmental risk and assurance frameworks and deliver training on these.
3. Assisting in the monitoring and assessing directorate’s bespoke risk registers and assurance maps. Conduct reviews of first or second line assurance and collate thematic findings.
4. Preparing risk and assurance reports for boards and committees.
5. Engage with functional directors to support them in assessing compliance to functional standards.
6. Engage with senior managers in the risk reviews and annual directors assurance reviews.
7. Work with Private Office to facilitate the department through any PAC hearings including hosting of mock panel sessions.
8. Undertake ad-hoc assignments and projects, as needed, to support non-assurance parts of GRAFT.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. An understanding, gained through working experience of risk, control and assurance.
2. An understanding, gained through working experience, of the principles of the 3 lines of assurance and mapping assurance sources.
3. Proven ability to work with senior leaders to deliver change.
4. Proven ability to work as part of a team delivering at pace in a fast-moving environment.
5. Be an excellent communicator, able to explain complex ideas both verbally and written at all levels.
6. Proven ability to develop and manage diverse stakeholders and their needs.
7. Experience of working in an assurance/internal audit capacity as part of a 3 lines of defence risk model.
8. A finance, risk or internal audit professional qualification (or part-qualification). If no qualification is held must be willing to undertake one.
