The Hertfordshire Pension Fund is one of 86 Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) funds across England and Wales.
The Principal Accountant Pensions will work closely with the Finance Manager for Pensions to play a key role in ensuring the Fund meets its regulatory obligations, delivers accurate and timely reporting, and implements investment strategies that safeguard the financial future of members of Hertfordshire Pension Fund. This is a senior role at the heart of our Pensions Team; it manages two people with responsibility for preparing the Fund’s statutory accounts, annual report, and returns, as well as providing specialist financial and investment advice to senior officers and elected members.
Hertfordshire offer a hybrid working model, with an expectation that people are in the Stevenage office at least 1 day per week.

Qualifications
To be suitable you need to be a fully qualified accountant, or will qualify in the next 9 months, with substantial experience, ideally within pensions, financial accounting or financial reporting, preferably in a Local Government setting. Strong influencing, communication, and relationship-building skills are also very important.
