Leading an existing team this role is a blend of hands on data engineering and Team Management. The role will be responsible for leading the adoption of new technologies; cloud lakehouses, data factories, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to drive innovation and improving efficiency across data management.

You will need to be able to work in Cheltenham or nearby sites two days per week and there is a potential that you may be asked to attend site on other occasion should the need arise. However this is a very flexible employer, with agile working who values work life balance, they give a very strong work/life balance and excellent benefits.

The Role

  • Providing leadership, guidance, and support to data team members.
  • Development and continuous improvement of the end-to-end data platform.
  • Build out Machine Learning and AI capability across the data estate.
  • Transition of data systems to cloud platforms.
  • System ownership of the Data Warehouse and integration tools.
  • Represent data roadmap in projects, programmes and strategy.
  • Aligning the data team to the needs of internal and external customers.

Your Skills

  • Hybrid cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google)'
  • Strong data technical skills (SQL, ETL tools, Data lakes and factories).
  • Experience in data warehousing, data integration, and cloud data solutions.
  • Capability to engage in and lead successful data projects.
  • Familiarity with ML and AI applications in data analysis.
  • Team mentoring/leadership and a focus on skills development.

This is an ideal role for a Data Engineer looking to formalise their line management skills along with the opportunity to lead in a significant and exciting transformation programme. The role offers significant flexibility in working patterns but you must be able to attend site in Cheltenham twice a week at your own expense.
