We’re recruiting a Learning Mentor to join a welcoming Alternative Provision in Stroud, supporting Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students who benefit from additional guidance both in and out of the classroom. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is patient, resilient and passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning, develop confidence and achieve their full potential.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group mentoring to students.
  • Supporting students to engage positively with learning and develop confidence, resilience and independence.
  • Building positive relationships and acting as a trusted role model.
  • Promoting positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing and effective coping strategies.
  • Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and other professionals to support individual learning and behaviour plans.
  • Helping create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Supporting educational visits and off‑site activities where required.

What we’re looking for:

  • At least 30 days’ experience working with children or young people.
  • Experience supporting students with additional needs, SEMH needs or challenging behaviour is desirable.
  • A calm, compassionate and positive approach.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
  • The ability to motivate, encourage and inspire young people.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential, as travel between sites and supporting off‑site activities may be required.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers and succeed.
