Ivy Resource Group are working with a well-established main contractor to recruit an experienced Site Manager for a permanent role based in Oxford. You will be managing a range of commercial projects in their Major Works Department.

The Role:

  • Manage the day-to-day running of construction sites and ensure work progresses according to programme.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, trades, suppliers and site operatives.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.
  • Plan and organise site activities, labour, materials and plant.
  • Monitor progress against the construction programme and address delays or issues.
  • Ensure all work complies with health and safety legislation, site rules and company procedures.
  • Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks and safety inspections.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and workmanship, identifying and resolving defects.
  • Liaise with project managers, quantity surveyors, architects, engineers, clients and consultants.
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications and programmes.
  • Manage deliveries and ensure materials and equipment are available when needed.
  • Keep accurate site records, reports, diaries and progress updates.
  • Deal with site problems and unexpected issues, finding practical solutions.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure work is completed to specification.
  • Help coordinate commissioning, snagging and handover when the project is nearing completion.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Experienced Site Manager with a strong background in construction and major projects.
  • Has experience managing large or complex construction projects from start to completion.
  • Strong leadership skills, able to manage subcontractors, trades and site teams effectively.
  • Takes ownership and responsibility for the day-to-day running of the site.
  • Excellent understanding of health and safety, including RAMS, inductions, toolbox talks and site inspections.
  • Able to keep projects on programme, within budget and to a high standard of quality.
  • Good commercial awareness and understanding of costs and site records.
  • Confident reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications and programmes.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, particularly when coordinating multiple trades and activities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors and colleagues.
  • Problem-solver who can make practical decisions when issues arise on site.
  • High attention to quality and detail.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Proactive, reliable and professional in their approach.

Salary & Package:

  • £50,000 - £70,000 per annum
