We’re on hand throughout a valve’s lifecycle, managing and overhauling valves ranging from 0.5 inches (12mm) to 78 inches (2m) in diameter. Overcoming obsolescence issues and long lead times for replacement parts, our fully equipped service centres include reverse engineering capabilities’ mobile engineering teams provide a complete range of onsite services including valve audits and testing, support during shutdowns and full maintenance contracts. OEM trained, all our on-site and workshop-based engineers offer a fast-response service, including emergency call-out, to minimise any downtime and process disruption.
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Safety Valve Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the inspection, maintenance, testing, and repair of safety valves and pressure relief devices in compliance with industry standards. Your expertise in valve technology and mechanical systems will be essential in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of various processes within our clients\’ facilities. You will work closely with operations, engineering, plant operators, and maintenance personnel to optimise valve performance and minimize customer downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
• Inspect, dismantle, clean, and reassemble safety valves to manufacturer and industry standards.
• Conduct testing and calibration of pressure relief valves (PRVs) both in-house and on-site.
• Maintain accurate records of valve servicing, repairs, and certifications.
• Troubleshoot valve performance issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and internal quality standards.
• Support field service teams during turnarounds, shutdowns, and routine maintenance.
• Operate test benches and associated calibration equipment.
• Maintain tools and equipment in safe, working condition.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering and maintenance teams to develop preventive maintenance schedules and strategies for valve systems.
• Follow the QMS process and document electronically the valve condition and report the condition and repair plan to IVS operations and the customer.
• Conduct valve testing and performance evaluations to assess reliability, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Document all maintenance activities via the IVS Valve Management System, inspections, repairs, and test results accurately.
• Adhere to health, safety and environmental standards at all times to prevent accidents, injuries, and environmental hazards.
• Stay updated on advancements in valve technology, industry trends, and best practices through training, workshops, and professional development opportunities.
• Provide technical guidance and support to less experienced technicians and apprentices as needed.
Qualifications:
• Qualified Mechanical apprenticeship to NVQ level 3 or equivalent; vocational training or certification in mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related field preferred.
• HNC in mechanical engineering or equivalent preferred.
• Proven experience working with safety valves, PRVs, or similar mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with industry standards such as ASME, API, and ISO.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Comfortable working in industrial environments (on-site and in-shop).
• Certifications in valve servicing or pressure safety equipment (preferred).
• Proficiency in reading technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to interpret valve specifications and installation requirements.
• Familiarity with valve testing equipment, diagnostic tools, and precision instruments used for troubleshooting and calibration.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail to identify root causes of valve failures and implement effective solutions.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with clients, colleagues, and suppliers professionally.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or on-call shifts to respond to emergency repair situations or maintenance requirements.
• A team player who supports team members and helps drive a healthy work environment.
• Valid driver\’s license and clean driving record may be required for field service technicians.
• Forklift license but not essential.

• Hours of work: 40 hours per week from 7.00am to 4.00pm on Monday to Thursday and from 7.00am until 1.00pm on a Friday.
• Holiday: 6.6 weeks (33 days) per annum which includes statutory Bank/Public Holidays.
• Holiday Year: 1st January to 31st December.
• Notice: During probation 1 week, thereafter 1 month.
• Pension: Autoenrollment after 3 months service. Employer contributions 3%.
