We are a well-known manufacturing company based in Soham, Cambridgeshire. Ivor Searle started business in 1946 and has grown from a small agricultural engineering company supplying local businesses to remanufacturing across Europe. We have been one of the UK's leading independent producers of remanufactured automotive products for more than 60 years, producing engines and cylinder heads, as well as gearboxes and turbos. Our mission is to produce products engineered to the highest standards, accompanied by exceptional service with a commitment to our customers and the environment.
Varied and challenging vacancies have arisen within our expanding engine machining services workshop team for two positive and keen individuals with a passion for engines and the restoration of all engine components. The machining services team work on a large variety of engine types from motorcycle engines, cars and commercial vehicles to large agricultural, rivercraft and also many forms of motorsports including V8s.
Responsibilities include:
- Pressure testing of cylinder heads for cracks and porosity
- Full cylinder head re-working including disassembly and assembly
Training will be provided, so whether you have machining experience or not, but you are interested and enthusiastic about being fully trained to machine and restore engine components to precision tolerances; or if you have had previous experience in any form of hands-on mechanical or machining operations or amateur DIY mechanics; or if you are a professional mechanic in the garage trade but thinking about a change in direction within the motor industry.
Working hours are 07:30 to 16:00 Monday to Friday (40 hour working week) with the opportunity once trained for non-compulsory overtime at competitive rates.
