Located in Longbridge, Birmingham, our veterinary hospital is one of the largest multidisciplinary referral hospitals in the UK. With state-of-the-art equipment to treat up to 10,000 pets a year, our brilliant team provide the very best veterinary care and support to clients, pets and referring vets.

Our veterinary referral services include Anaesthesia & Analgesia, Cardiology, Diagnostic Imaging, ECC, Internal Medicine, Interventional Radiology, Neurology, Oncology, Orthopaedics and Soft Tissue Surgery. At Blaise, we have a specialist-led 24-hour emergency and critical care service in partnership with Vets Now, providing out-of-hours and emergency pet care for Birmingham and surrounding areas.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Weekend Daytime Emergency Nurse, you will deliver advanced nursing care within our busy emergency service, supporting the management of urgent and complex cases across the weekend period. You’ll work collaboratively within a large multidisciplinary team, supporting emergency triage, procedures, inpatient care and patient monitoring across ICU, general and isolation wards. This role offers the opportunity to use and develop your emergency nursing skills while contributing to high standards of patient care, clinical decision-making and client communication.

Working Pattern

  • Part-time weekend role
  • Around 24 hours across Saturday and Sunday
  • Ideal shift pattern would cover 6:00am to 2:00am, although some flexibility can be considered
  • Minimum shift length of 10 hours

Key Responsibilities

  • Emergency triage and procedure nursing
  • Inpatient care within our ICU, general and isolation wards
  • Monitoring anaesthesia for emergency surgeries

You Might Be a Great Fit If...

You are an experienced Registered Veterinary Nurse with a strong interest in emergency cases and a passion for inpatient care. You’ll bring:

  • Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
  • Significant experience in clinical practice with advanced nursing skills in out-of-hours, inpatient care and/or ECC
  • Experience working with complex emergency cases in a hospital setting
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
  • A commitment to evidence-based practice, clinical governance and continuous improvement
