SCVS is a large multidisciplinary specialist referral hospital serving patients and referring veterinary surgeons across the South of England. Our Ophthalmology service manages a diverse caseload encompassing medical and surgical ophthalmology, including corneal disease and surgery, cataract surgery, glaucoma, uveitis, retinal disease, ocular emergencies and complex adnexal and intraocular surgery. The department has access to an extensive range of specialist ophthalmic diagnostic and surgical equipment, including operating microscopes and microsurgical instrumentation, phacoemulsification, electroretinography, ocular ultrasonography and advanced ophthalmic imaging.
As part of a multidisciplinary referral hospital, our ophthalmologists work closely with colleagues in other specialist disciplines, providing excellent exposure to complex cases where ocular disease forms part of a wider systemic or neurological condition.
