We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-orientated Twilight Veterinary Care Assistant to join our team at Southern Counties on a part-time permanent basis. SCVS is a specialist-led small animal hospital with the expertise and resources to handle the most complex cases.

As a large multidisciplinary referral hospital, we boast impressive facilities and cutting‑edge equipment, allowing us to deliver exceptional care from the initial consultation through to patient discharge. Conveniently located in Ringwood, Hampshire, just off the A31, we are ideally positioned for our clients. Our recent expansion features a newly purpose‑built theatre complex, a two‑storey facility with an expansive client reception and waiting area, 10 additional consulting rooms, and a new rehabilitation centre. Future enhancements include a new diagnostic suite, an ICU area, and more.

How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Veterinary Care Assistant, you will play an important role in supporting the clinical team to deliver high standards of patient and client care, while helping to ensure the practice environment runs smoothly and safely. Working under the direction of a Veterinary Surgeon or Registered Veterinary Nurse, you'll support inpatient care, assist with patient handling and restraint, help maintain clinical areas and equipment, and contribute to a positive and compassionate experience for both patients and clients.

Working Pattern

  • Twilight position working 5:00pm – 12:00am as part of a rota
  • Average 27.2 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

  • Work alongside Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Nurses to provide vital patient care within a multidisciplinary referral hospital
  • Support hospitalised patients through basic inpatient care and monitoring
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and infection control throughout the hospital
  • Restock clinical areas and ensure equipment is maintained and ready for use
  • Assist Veterinary Surgeons and Nurses with patient restraint
  • Support rehabilitation by providing basic massage and physiotherapy techniques where required
  • Run a variety of in‑house laboratory tests
  • Assist with the maintenance and organisation of ward equipment
