Salary up to £65,000 DOE Pro-rata. Westwood Vets is looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our well‑established team on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. This position is working 8:30am – 6:30pm, 3 days per week.

The Role: Kirks Vets are looking for a dedicated first opinion vet to work alongside 8 other vets across their two busy practices, working as part of a supportive, positive team. The successful candidate will be involved in all general veterinary duties, both medical and surgical. Our team agree that the successful vet needs to be an exceptional communicator with a strong customer focus. Based in our Sleaford practice, the standard working pattern is a 4‑day week with 10.5‑hour days, although a flexible shift pattern can be agreed. Weekend cover is 1 in 5, with no out-of-hours requirements.

About the Team and Culture: Westwood Veterinary Practice is both well‑established and displays a visible presence with branches in the rural village setting of Boston Spa and the bustling town of Garforth. Both practices offer different capabilities, with most diagnostics performed at the Boston Spa branch and dentistry at the Garforth surgery. As a practice, we strive to offer high‑quality care to all our patients, with a keen focus on diagnostic work‑ups and proactive preventative healthcare. We are a warm and friendly team with an excellent client base. Westwood is a busy first opinion small animal practice. We also work closely with Cats Protection Leeds, with dedicated operating days supporting their charity work. Both practices have a designated operating theatre and prep area, with separate cat and dog wards at the Garforth surgery. The Garforth surgery has digital dental x-ray and excellent dental capabilities. We have a wide range of equipment, including:

  • Digital x‑ray
  • Ultrasonography at both practices
  • Bronchoscopy
  • Laparoscopy
  • In-house laboratory
  • Laser therapy
  • In-house orthopaedic capabilities, including MMP
  • Echocardiograms and ECG
