We are seeking an organised, personable Receptionist to join our team at Acorn Vets on a full-time or part-time permanent basis.
Acorn Veterinary Surgery is a thriving two-site practice with state-of-the-art equipment including an in-house laboratory, digital x-ray, ultrasound, digital dental x-ray, and a dedicated operating theatre.
Our main site is situated on Portland Road in Hove, with a branch practice in Hangleton.
You'll join a passionate team of 4 Veterinary Surgeons, 7 Registered Veterinary Nurses and 3 receptionist's working across both sites.
Both locations offer an excellent quality of life.
The Hove practice is just a five-minute walk from the seafront and only ten minutes by car from the South Downs.

How You’ll Make a Difference
As a Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for clients, playing a key role in delivering a welcoming, professional and compassionate experience at every interaction.
You’ll support the smooth running of the practice by managing appointments, handling enquiries, supporting client communications and working closely with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to ensure a positive client and patient journey.
- Working Pattern
- Working 30 - 40 hours over 4 days a week; hours and shift patterns can be flexible. You will be required to work 1 in 4 Saturday mornings 8.30am to 12.30pm.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide an excellent experience to all patients and customers.
- Serve as the initial point of contact for patients and visitors.
- Answer the telephone in a professional manner.
- Greet visitors in a friendly manner.
- Booking, cancelling and changing appointments, and follow up treatment as needed.
- Answer general administrative questions or direct them to the appropriate party.
- Deal with some admin responsibility.
- Quickly resolve issues related to phone, emails or paperwork.
- Processing and recording payments.
- Dispensing medications/prescriptions.
- Keeping client/patient records up to date.
