We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-oriented Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Hook Veterinary Centre on a full-time basis.
At Hook Veterinary Centre, we are proud to deliver outstanding patient care within a friendly, supportive team environment. Our modern, well-equipped practice features digital radiography, dental X-ray, advanced ultrasound facilities, an in-house Idexx laboratory, and multiparameter monitoring equipment, enabling us to provide a high standard of care across a varied and busy caseload. Based in the lovely village of Hook, our RCVS-accredited practice combines the appeal of countryside living with excellent transport links to London and the South Coast.
We are a large and collaborative team made up of 7 vets, 8 RVNs, and 4 receptionists, all working together to keep everything running smoothly. Despite our busy days, we pride ourselves on maintaining a welcoming atmosphere where colleagues support one another and enjoy working together.
How You’ll Make a Difference
As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering high-quality nursing care to patients while supporting excellent client experiences. You’ll work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and the wider practice team, taking responsibility for the nursing care of a range of first opinion cases, contributing to clinical standards, and supporting the ongoing development of patient care within the practice.
The role offers a 40-hour working week, with a varied rota including two 8 am–4:30 pm shifts, one 10 am–7:30 pm shift, and one 11 am–7:30 pm shift each week. There is a 1 in 4 Saturday rota (8 am–1 pm), with a half day the following Friday, giving you the benefit of a long weekend. There are no out-of-hours responsibilities, as all calls are transferred to Vets Now outside of practice hours, supporting an excellent work-life balance.
General responsibilities include:
- Theatre nursing
- Inpatient care
- Nurse consultations including: nail clips, anal glands, wellness screens, weight checks, puppy and kitten checks and second vaccines - to name a few!
- Laboratory work
- Supporting our clinical team to help deliver exceptional patient care
